More Swim Gym

more pics from class tonight...i just didn't feel like making a slide show... enjoy!

Swim Gym Class

Tonight was Noah's first Swim Gym Class at the Y! We decided to let him do this class with daddy (since mommy may not be able to get off the gym floor!). The gym part was great! of course the first thing he wanted to do was play basketball! bryan finally got him to go around and try different things and he had a blast! my favorite part was watching bryan during song time, trying to learn the words and motions to all the little kid songs!

can you find it?

can you find my living room that is! uncle mike and aunt bobbi got noah this super fun playtent and tunnels and daddy just had to set it up the day after we got home! the only thing was that it was WAY bigger than the one we have at daycare! it took up the entire living room (which isn't that large to begin with) and bryan still couldn't attach one other tunnel and the other house! noah loved the tunnels and popping up through the flat circle thing. i'm not sure who had more fun, noah or bryan! ;) thanks aunt bobbi and uncle mike! and i apologize to daddy for the 'rearview' shot!

Bath fun

Thank you Grandma King for the fun water toys! he loves sticking them to everything, and even discovered they stick to his belly! :) we can't wait to take them to the pool this summer!

A Bouncer in a Grocery Store

I don't usually use this blog to express my personal opinions about things, but since this affected me as a mom, I've decided to post it here.

First of all, this world is INSANE! that was my thought last night at the grocery store...yes, the grocery store. to save money, we do most of our shopping at aldi's. when we have the time, we will drive to hilliard instead of shopping at the one about a mile from our house because it's nicer and usually less busy. lately we've just been going to the closer one because of time. the last four or five times we've gone, i've noticed an employee always standing by the exit door. i assumed it was a manager of sorts keeping employees in line. this employee is always male, and usually larger in size. last night we found out his real job...protecting sane customers from insane. he was a bouncer, ready to intercede in any theft, altercations, or otherwise that may present itself, which apparently had become a problem (if the store feels the need to hire someone just for this job).

while bagging our groceries, we heard a man behind us start yelling and cussing at the 'bouncer'. he was accusing the bouncer of profiling him and watching just him (although he stared at us the whole time we were in line as well...and everyone else). the bouncer warned the guy to settle down or he would have to leave the store. the man continued yelling and cussing, threatening to hurt the bouncer, call the police and a few other things. we finished bagging our groceries and were going to leave, but the bouncer had walked past us to escort the man outside. things got more intense as the man refused to leave and was then forcefully escorted out. all i could think was that we were all going to be shot. we knew they would have to walk past us, and since the man was out of control, my first instinct was to be between him and my son, who was strapped into the cart. i faced noah and pulled his head into my chest because he was staring at the man yelling and i was worried the guy might even try to hurt noah, just because he was staring at him. bryan then stepped behind me, between us and the insanity.

the bouncer was successful in getting the guy out, but the fight grew louder outside the door. we stayed inside, waiting, now not wanting to leave. another larger employee went out to help and within a few minutes the man left and they returned inside. we waited a few more minutes (along with many others) before leaving the store, looking every direction and hurrying to get noah in the car in case the guy came back or was hanging around. then we left.

it was the first time i was seriously scared for my son's life.

we worry about him, with the neighborhood we live in, but we've never had any serious issues concerning him. we know violence is higher in poorer areas, and it was proven to us yet again last night (we understand violence can happen anywhere, but the rates are statistically higher).

we know God has been prompting us to move the last few years (although the direction is unclear to us), and last night confirmed that in our minds. we are thankful for His protection of our family.

Noah's Valentine Dessert

We thought him eating his dessert was quite funny (and a little overdramatic!) so we had to video it! He gets a tiny bit of sweets every now and then, but you would have thought he'd NEVER had anything sweet before! what a ham!

Valentine's Day 2008

This year we decided to go to white castle again for our valentine's dinner! we went last year and had a lot of fun and decided to make it our valentine's tradition. i was called into work tonight before that, and while i was gone, noah and daddy made me an incredibly sweet valentine! you can see it in the picture of the decorations! it was a fun time again and noah enjoyed getting dessert this year! he doesn't often get sweets for dessert and never this much, but we wanted him to have a special valentine's too. wait til you see the video that i'll try to put on here next!

Noah Baking

At least one night a week, Noah and I attempt to bake something together (i say attempt because although i can cook, i cannot bake!!). It's a lot of fun, and a lot of mess! Here's some pics of us baking pretzels a few weeks ago and a cake last week. I'm amazed at how long he will sit at the table and 'bake'...because i'm super slow since i don't have much of a clue as to what i'm doing! But i'm getting better...made my first batch of homemade banana nut bread yesterday! bryan said it was yummy (but he eats anything) so i'm waiting to hear back from kristi to see if i should turn in my baking apron or not!

First Quilt

One of my sweet friends from Sylvan made this beautiful quilt for baby Ruby and gave it to me tonight! Our nursery theme is going to be ladybugs, so she made this to match. Isn't it gorgeous? I put some close up pics on here for the quilt lovers in my family. I just LOVE it!
