Hurrican Ike

The house on one corner lost their huge tree in the front. The neat thing was that immediately several neighbors came out with chainsaws during the windstorm to help move the tree that was blocking the main street into our neighborhood. We've never even seen some of these people before in the 8 years we've lived here!

Our dog, Molly, ran away at the beginning of the storm, but I couldn't go far with both babies sleeping inside and Bryan at work. So I carried the camera and took pictures while I yelled for her. Several hours later she was brought home to us by someone who had found her close to busy W. Broad St. and kept her safe during the storm.

Noah and I thought it was pretty neat when his swingset blew over (and all his toys were flying across the yard)... until... (keep your eye on the little push truck in the far back)..

...the tree behind the swingset fell over (on top of Mater, the tow truck). i was VERY sad because first of all the tree really helped block the view from others in the apartments behind us, and because the tree had been imported from Spain and had incredibly neat spiral limbs.

Noah helping daddy clean up the tree. Bryan had a chainsaw, but of course it was electric... and we were out of electricity from Sunday til Thursday... (see Mater under the tree?? surprisingly it survived to be ridden again!)

so he ended up breaking most of the tree by hand and taught noah to do the same :)

my favorite part of this pic is all the chairs lined up... you'd think they'd had an audience or something. oh and of course i love seeing my two guys working together!
